Inside a set of great glasshouses on Princes Avenue, Tropical World is Roundhay Park’s indoor jungle — one of the largest collections of tropical plants outside Kew.
Walk from rainforest to desert to the nocturnal house: free-flying butterflies, meerkats, crocodiles, bats and terrapins, all a few yards from the Canal Gardens outside. It is a ticketed attraction and gets busy — book ahead in school holidays.
