Rodley Nature Reserve: wetlands built by volunteers

Rodley Nature Reserve was created in 1999 from an old sewage works site beside the Aire — designed, dug and still run by volunteers, and now one of the best wetland sites in the region.

Lagoons, reedbeds and dragonfly ponds draw kingfishers, little owls and clouds of damselflies in summer. Hides and a visitor centre make it an easy half-day out; the reserve opens several days a week (check the site before you go).
