Yeadon Tarn: sailing under the flight path

Yeadon Tarn is the town’s living room with water: a 17-acre lake at the top of Yeadon, circled by a level path and watched over by the comings and goings of Leeds Bradford Airport next door.

The council’s sailing centre runs sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking on the tarn, anglers line the banks, and the wider Tarnfield Park adds a playground and BMX track. A circuit of the lake, an ice cream, and a plane to spot every few minutes.
