Parents of children due to start secondary school next September have only days left to apply: applications for Year 7 places close this Saturday, 31 October 2026.
The deadline applies to children born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 who will start Year 7 in September 2027. Apply online to Leeds City Council at leeds.gov.uk/apply — you apply to your home council even if some of your chosen schools are outside Leeds. The council recommends listing five schools in your order of preference; schools do not see your preference order, and all applications received by the deadline are treated equally. Offers are made on 1 March 2027.
Missed the deadline? Applications received within four weeks of it — by 28 November — are treated as on time by most Leeds schools. After that, applications are given lower priority, so it is worth applying now rather than later.
For younger children, applications for Reception places (children born 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023) and Year 3 junior school places open on 1 November 2026, with a deadline of 15 January 2027 and offers on 16 April 2027.
